Assess
Change can be difficult, even when it’s change for the better.
Improvement always begins with awareness. Whether its deeper understanding of how your actions are perceived by others or how your organization is working to accomplish its goals, understanding the current state informs getting to the desired state.
My assessments focus on the organization’s cultural values and the observable behaviors of individual leaders to help prioritize the specific improvement efforts that will have the most impact. Understanding why we do the things we do, helps us approach change in a more authentic way that is sustainable over time and while under pressure.
Educate
When change was less frequent and disruptive, organizations could gradually adjust to shifting market influences. Individual job skills were more stable over one’s entire career. In both cases, learning how to make these small adjustments was a secondary concern, even just a bi-product of the organization’s regular delivery.
Today, rapid knowledge acquisition and the ability to quickly pivot are primary concerns. Agility, as a way to navigate change, is both a mindset shift and a way of working change that leaders and teams must make together for the organization to remain aligned.

Sustained change takes more than just awareness. It takes commitment and willingness to practice until we become accomplished at the new way, else we’ll revert back to the old way when things become difficult.
Organizational agility is the capability achieved when individual leaders and teams perform in harmony with the larger system. As with any professional sports team, success comes when strong individuals players focus on overall team success. This blending of self and system awarenesses requires much more thought and discipline than just focusing on one.
